We had a great week too! I was worried about finding vegetarian options for me and fish options for Steve in restaurants – but we never had a problem. We ate lunch out every day and I had some wonderful meals. And we loved the area. We are back home now, in the Cotswolds, happy to see the cat but when I close my eyes I see roads lined with plane trees.

Enjoy the archaeology! Seviac Roman Villa looks absolutely wonderful, but then I just love Roman mosaics.

I doubt that P&S will be seduced by the lovely ducks and geese, although I’ve heard rumors that Steve is eating turkey these days, so maybe!

What a lovely mixture, of both places and people! The Gers has been on my wishlist for years: I’m looking forward to hearing all about it from P&S when they’re back (what will they eat – isn’t it all ducks & geese?!!). Collioure is gorgeous: Philippa, Nicholas & I swam from the Harbour beach in early June, many years ago now. Anchovies!

Nice trip in the making – Collioure should be blissfully quiet this time of year. If you get a chance, drive around the coast to Spain. Stunning scenery and a stop for a taste of the red wines in Banyuls is obligatoire !!

If you can fit it in, I’ve got a great walk we can do through the “unknown” ochre cliffs in Roussillon. Guaranteed not to see a soul…
