Leaf peeping along the Blue Ridge Parkway

Posted on 08 October 2009

The last time we were more than a day’s drive from home was Paris in March of 2008, so we’re WAY overdue!

We’re flying to Washington, DC, next week. We’ll spend four nights at the Hotel Monaco in old town Alexandria, then pick up a car and take several days to drive through Shenandoah National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smokey Mountains, and on to fly home from Nashville. As a bonus, we get to stop and visit friends in Knoxville!

I’m hoping for cool crisp days, spectacular scenery, and breathtaking fall color.

Hi Steph! It’s cold and rainy here, but I’ll be at the market for sure, since it’s practically next door. Fresh OJ will be just the thing. I may bring breakfast back to our room.

I hope you love Alexandria as much as I did. Have fun at the Farmer’s Market tomorrow. Remember they start early – like 5 am and finish at ten. The frresh orange juice is delicious!

Have a great time. I know it is a wee bit north but I hear the leaves are great in Ontario right now.

I miss it . . . just a bit. Although being in greece is not hard to take!
